Blogging Tips - Use Pictures to boost your traffic

If you're a blogger, one of the first questions that you'd want an answer to is - 'How do I increase traffic to my blog?'. If you want the usual answers of back linking and social networking you've come to the wrong place. One thing I can tell you - I'm relatively new to blogging; but, the technique I use for HubPages does seem to work there and I'm sure it would work here as well.

If you're ready to learn - Check out this Post (It's the first in its series)

Made for Pinterest Image
One of the best ways to give your traffic a boost is by creating unique pictures for each post. It's definitely going to be time consuming at the very beginning. But, once you get the hang of it, it would be  a smooth journey. However, considering the amount of long term traffic that you could get by doing this, I'd say it's definitely worth the extra effort.

Before going further into this discussion, I'd like to thank Wrylilt for bringing this up through the humongous Pinterest shares that she'd received and continues to receive. That surely made me think about it and I went back to check on some of my Hubs and viola - they had 30+ Pinterest shares! That's without me even making my own pics (They had some crazy illustrations). So, that's when I began creating special images which are popularly known as - 'Made for Pinterest Images'.

So, is it just Pinterest that we're targeting here? No way! There are two basic reasons as to why I'm not after Pinterest:

  • First and Foremost I hate the concept of a site dedicated to sharing pictures that way
  • Secondly, even though they grew at an enormous rate in the very beginning, they've begun to lose people unlike Facebook, Twitter and Google+
You may wonder why I'm doing it then. Well, I'd be glad to have the traffic from Pinterest; but, that's not my main priority. I've actually begun doing this as I noticed the better pictures you have, the lower your bounce rate and if you manage to keep your bounce rate low, you're doing your blog a favor - No search engine penalties in terms of blog content.

In addition to that, I've just tried something out yesterday on one of my highest performing hubs (Which one - I won't tell for obvious reasons). Whenever I write hubs or any sort of article, I usually write them as whole series' as this way traffic on any one of them could result into traffic for all. What I did was included a picture from a related hub onto the one that was getting lots of traffic and the click through rate from one hub to the other has now increased from a mere 5% to around 45% - Yippee!

So apart from the extra traffic, lower bounce rates and higher CTR's; having amazing pictures on your blog would definitely be a great way of encouraging people to share your work with their friends and families through various social networks.

Wouldn't you want your page to look great anyway? So, there's no harm in giving it a try - I'm sure it would lead to sweet fruit; make sure to let me know how it turned out.
